Spoiler Warning
The relentless race to find Nakano Lash comes to an end as Valance—the Nautolan female’s protégé—and T’onga are finally coming face-to-face with the mutinous hunter after more bloodshed by both parties. So far, Bounty Hunters has delivered an epic story with constant time jumps and panels fully loaded with action, but the series finally reaches a tipping point in this issue with jaw-dropping revelations that will define the destiny of the bloody crime war between the Mourner’s Wail and the Unbroken Clan.
Writer Ethan Sacks and artist Paolo Villanelli confirm that they are a perfect match for this series—delivering a quintessential bounty hunter tale while enriching its action-packed nature with heart wrenching moments. From T’onga to Nakano Lash, Ethan Sacks’ new characters are the true protagonists of Bounty Hunters—despite the series being advertised as an ensemble of the most infamous hunters in the Star Wars galaxy.
T’onga’s representation as a queer woman of color and the importance of her role in Bounty Hunters is a statement of inclusivity within Star Wars. Nakano Lash’s misunderstood past actions are finally explained—giving hope that she can finally come out of the shadows to allow for new character development. Sacks does a great job at balancing out these new characters with the bounty hunter bunch like Bossk and Boba Fett that we all know and love, but the poster boy is without a doubt Valance—who in the previous issue got some important character development and is becoming one of the most interesting characters since his reinstatement in the canon universe from the Legends timeline.
Paolo Villanelli (as always) creates beautiful panels full of dynamic energy—this time emphasizing some of the most dramatic moments of the issue and the series so far with powerful character physicality and intense facial expressions. In particular, the fight between the Thisspiasian, Nakano Lash, and her niece that was only teased in the previous issue showcases some of the artist’s best executions to this date.
With a rollercoaster of emotions through long awaited revelations, Bounty Hunters #4 – Galaxy’s Deadliest Part 4 is the comic you don’t want to miss!
