Part 1: Headhunted begins with a new bounty coming in from Domina Tagge—asking a large amount of credits for capturing Doctor Aphra alive. This might seem like the usual routine for the rogue archaeologist—her alone against the galaxy. But this time, Aphra’s tricks might just not work for the head of Tagge Corporation. Alyssa Wong continues to offer the readers the absolute best Aphra. No matter the dangerousness of the situation, she always finds a way to trick her opponents in an unexpected way while taking the time to add a sprinkle of dark humor to the mix. Wong drops the perfect villain into the pot—which is already proving to be a formidable and fascinating one. Domina Tagge knows how to play Aphra’s games, and she is always one step ahead of the rogue archaeologist.

For the new story arc, Marika Cresta passes the baton to pencilers Ray-Anthony Height, Robert Gill and inker Victor Olazaba, while Rachelle Rosenberg still remains to provide the coloring for the comic. The new artwork has a nice transition from the first arc—with exciting action scenes and stunning character designs. In particular, the bounty hunter Kharrek has a unique style that is just as Star Wars as you can get. However, the stunner of the comic issue is Domina Tagge—her design showcasing her graceful beauty, which is a nice contrast to her powerful and ruthless personality.

Headhunted opens up a new job opportunity for Aphra—this time the retrieval of a replica of an ancient artifact, dating back to the High Republic days! The connections to the new era of Star Wars—beginning next year—are slowly spreading throughout the publishing world, Doctor Aphra being one of its main sources. Wong is able to seemingly incorporate these new elements into the story while once again sedimenting the archaeological and adventure, which are at the core of Doctor Aphra.
