An unexpected new team forms up at the top of the temple ruins of Taython as the Clan of Two face their greatest challenge yet. This new chapter of The Mandalorian is full of shocking revelations and nods to Legends material, all wrapped in a beautiful action package by none other than directorial master Robert Rodriguez.

  • The Seeing Stone: Mando and Grogu don’t waste any time on their quest for finding the Jedi who will train our green friend. Right at the center of the ancient temple ruins on the planet Taython is the Seeing Stone, a powerful Force beacon. Soon after Grogu is placed on the giant rock, an impenetrable Force field completely surrounds the child, connecting him with the galaxy allowing him to send a message to any surviving Jedi. This was such an iconic moment for Grogu as he takes a meditation pose that is both powerful and irresistibly cute. Who will answer his call? My bet is on Ezra Bridger.
  • Return of Boba Fett: Temuera Morrison’s comeback to Star Wars was already made epic with his brief cameo as Boba Fett at the end of Season Two’s first chapter—revealing his silhouette as he stares at the twin suns of Tatooine. In Chapter 14 we finally get the Boba Fett episode we’ve all been waiting for. Despite his age, Boba is more fearsome than ever—his loss of the iconic beskar armor not lowering his fighting skills whatsoever. Seeing him effortlessly breaking stormtrooper armor with his gaffi stick is delightful—the action scene beautifully directed by Robert Rodriguez, his iconic filming style immediately bringing me back to his Mexico trilogy. To make the moment unforgettable, Boba grabs his armor from the Razor Crest—our heroes gaining the upper hand as the bounty hunter begins a rapid succession of kills showcasing his wide range of weapons, ending the stormtrooper attack with a final explosion from his rocket missile.
  • Return of Fennec Shand: Last time we saw the sharpshooter assassin, Fennec Shand was left for dead on the sands of Tatooine in Chapter 5 of Season One. The mysterious person that rescued her turned out to be none other than Boba Fett. Her incredible sharpshooting combined with Fett’s close combat skills make the perfect deadly mix for the team. Looks like she might become a season regular of the show, so I am hoping we will get more character development for Fennec.
  • Dark Troopers: The internet guessed right! The mysterious Imperial droids seen in the last seconds of Chapter 12 are indeed dark troopers! However, this phase of droids is a brand new one and not the same as any of the ones seen in the Legends video games starting with Dark Forces. In fact, these are strikingly similar to the purge troopers from The Force Unleashed. This is when it gets more confusing as similar features were brought into the canon universe for Star Wars: Commander‘s Phase II dark troopers and for Star Wars: Uprising‘s purge troopers—the latter designed by Brian Matyas, the concept artist responsible for most of the characters in The Mandalorian. Nonetheless, the dark troopers are back, and with precise efficiency they capture Grogu. I am predicting Mando is going to have a hell of a time against these deadly droids!
  • The Tragedies: Chapter 14‘s title is The Tragedy, but I feel like it should’ve been The Tragedies. Mando does not only lose his best friend, his adopted son, but also his beloved ship, the Razor Crest. I was shocked when Gideon’s star destroyer obliterated it to pieces, leaving Mando looking through the scraps and only taking Grogu’s favorite ball and the beskar spear he obtained in the last chapter. Fortunately for us, Mando’s team up with Boba Fett and Fennec Shand allows for the second (only to the Falcon) most iconic ship in Star Wars to take the spotlight for the rest of the season. Goodbye Razor Crest, welcome back Slave I. Speaking of Grogu, our green friend’s capture was predictable, but it hurt nonetheless. His Force powers are starting to become more evident as he’s toying around with the stormtroopers guarding his cell; however, Grogu is not strong enough to save himself from Gideon and the Imperial Remnant (also, those mini Imperial binders are so cute and awful at the same time). This has now officially become personal for Mando, and he won’t stop until he has rescued Grogu from a tragic fate.
  • Chain Code: The end of Chapter 14 had a surprising revelation about the Fett family: Jango was a foundling (who even fought in the Mandalorian Civil Wars), therefore giving Boba the right to wear the beskar armor that we now know belonged to his father. This completely changes the view of Jango and Boba Fett as being bounty hunters who stole a Mandalorian armor, therefore not being considered Mandalorians themselves. The Fetts are officially Mandalorians!
