T’onga’s crew of rogues is on a mission to find Cadeliah, the heir to the Unbroken Clan and Mourner’s Wail syndicates, who is currently within the clutches of Crimson Dawn. In Bounty Hunters #24, they hire the notorious Dengar to help get information from their current captive, General Vukorah of the Unbroken Clan, on where Cadeliah is being held. Unbeknownst to the crew, however, is that Dengar is currently working for Crimson Dawn on a mission of his own that could spell doom for T’onga and her people. After talking with Vukorah, Dengar gives coordinates to Nal Hutta claiming that the young heir is located on Crimson Dawn’s ship. None of them fully trust Dengar, but they assume that the credits they’re paying him are good enough to keep him honest. At the same time we find our lovable Valance tasked with a team of Imperials to keep one of their officers safe after threats of assassination, but that’s a task often easier said than done.
In Bounty Hunters #24, writer Ethan Sacks brings multiple plot threads from the past few issues together as T’onga, Vukorah, and Dengar all converge into one location and storyline. It’s just the beginning of an intense series of events, with the issue aptly named Raid on the Vermillion, Part One. Sacks’ awesome writing brings twists at every nearly turn of the page, leaving the readers tense and worried throughout every panel. The visual artistic team helps make those panels as badass as possible with artist Paolo Villanelli, colorist Arif Prianto, and letterer VC’s Travis Lanham hitting absolute highs in terms of gorgeous artwork. The best parts of this issue, visually, are the action scenes which this team of artists seem to always nail. There’s a moment where T’onga asks 4-LOM for some assistance, which is especially gorgeous as the droid takes on an entire squad that has the team cornered.
The main cover art for Bounty Hunters #24 comes from Giuseppe Camuncoli and Jesus Aburtov and focuses on the Valance side of the story as we see the loveable cybernetic rogue taking one an AT-ST all on his own. The first variant cover is this month’s Pride variant from Jan Bazaldua and Antonio Fabela—featuring lovers T’onga and Losha looking as badass as ever. The second variant finds Chris Sprouse, Karl Story, and Neeraj Menon returning, after their incredible run on the Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary covers, for a new variant cover series titled Choose Your Destiny! This cover boasts an awesome depiction of General Grievous and a close up look at his four lightsaber hilts.
With multiple twists, lots of backstabbing, and intense action, Bounty Hunters #24 continues the epic battle to find syndicate heir Cadeliah with as much mayhem ensuing as possible. So fire up your swoop bikes and whoosh on down to your local comic shop to pick up a copy today!
