Bounty Hunters #28 - Comic Review
Bounty Hunters #28 finds the crew of lovable rogues in the thick of it after a job gone wrong!

Lucas Wagner
November 2, 2022 @ 9:00amT’onga’s crew of bounty hunters were hired to protect a Pike crime lord. Unfortunately, Tasu Leech is not a fan of the Pikes, and eventually he takes out the crime lord instead. With the job as botched as could be, Bounty Hunters #28 sees the crew doing their best to survive against the rest of the Pikes who want revenge against them for killing their boss. The group is now stuck on a ship night club right next to a black hole with an entire crew of criminals out to get them. On the other end of the spectrum, Valance has been summoned by Darth Vader himself to go on a mission for the Empire. Valance is to take his own crew to the planet Bestine and stop a coming attack from Crimson Dawn. Along with all this we also find General Vukorah attempting to retake her place as the ruler of the Unbroken Clan syndicate!
Ethan Sacks does a fantastic job with his writing for Bounty Hunters #28 as he juggles multiple storylines throughout this issue. He’s able to give a lot of good character moments for everyone involved and even a few good developments as well in the case of people like Losha, Valance, and Vukorah. The visual team behind the art is this issue is made up of artist Paolo Villanelli, colorist Arif Prianto, and letterer VC’s Travis Lanham. The three of them do a fantastic job bringing Sacks’ writing to life on the page. The standout of this issue is definitely Lanham’s lettering. My favorite moment of the entire issue is when Zuckuss bounces his blaster bolt all over the room and Lanham’s “PING” noises as they bolt ricochets around added a lot of fun and excitement to that moment.
The main cover art for Bounty Hunters #28 is by Giuseppe Camuncoli and Jesus Aburtov, and sees the main characters being sucked out of the night club and into space! Ken Lashley and Juan Fernandez are back with another Connecting variant cover, this time featuring T’onga, Bossk, and 4-LOM as well as the Pike boss looming over them. Taurin Clarke is here with a Revelations variant with a stunning movie poster-esque work of art depicting Valance, Bossk, Dengar, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, and Iden Versio. Clarke’s cover is definitely one of my all time favorites of this series.
Losha’s crew of rogues is surrounded by a group of angry Pikes as well as a black hole ready to swallow them all up at a moment’s notice. Hop on your swoop bike and rush on down to pick up your copy of Bounty Hunters #28 today!
