The Dark Lord of the Sith confronts his feelings about Sabé in Darth Vader (2020) #28!

October 19, 2022 @ 9:33amAfter a near death encounter against Governor Tauntaza, Darth Vader was saved by his tentative ally Sabé. Darth Vader (2020) #28 finds the Dark Lord trying to figure out just exactly what his feelings are towards the handmaiden to his late wife. What does Vader desire in this war torn galaxy? What are his needs, his desires, and how does Sabé fit in with his plans? The one thing he does know is that he needs to confront Emperor Palpatine about his role in Governor Tauntaza’s recent attack!
Darth Vader (2020) #28 continues the fun and exciting story arc from writer Greg Pak that deals with Vader and his attachment to Padmé and anything that reminds him of her, such as Sabé. It’s a very slow discussion of “is Anakin still alive” that’s beginning to pay off in an equally slow, but really cool, way. The way Pak writes Vader and his intricacies shows just how well he understands the Jedi turned Sith. On top of all this, he also does a killer job doing cliffhangers and this issue is no exception!
The main artistic team for Darth Vader (2020) #28 consists of artist Raffaele Ienco, colorist Carlos Lopez, and letterer VC’s Joe Caramagna. The three of them do a fantastic job bringing this intense and emotional series of events to life within the pages of this issue. The main cover art is done by Rahzzah and features a horrifying Emperor Palpatine gripping the shoulder of a terrified Sabé, and feels like it’s right out of a horror film.
Greg Land and Frank D’Armata are next with the first variant cover for Darth Vader (2020) #28 with a gorgeous portrayal of Vader, a group of stormtroopers, and a couple TIE Fighters swooping around. The second variant cover is from Rod Reis and is my personal favorite. Reis crafts a picture that finds a looming Palpatine puppeteering both Vader and Sabé with his hands, but instead of puppet strings it’s strands of force lightning. Not only is it a killer idea and design, but the colors on this cover are to die for!
Follow the Dark Lord of the Sith as he deals with his feelings and emotions toward himself, Padmé and Sabé, the Emperor, and the galaxy in Darth Vader (2020) #28! It’s an intense and moody character study that only Greg Pak knows how to write. So hop in your TIE Fighter and fly on over to your local comic shop to pick up a copy today!
