Spoiler Warning
The Talky droid from the High Republic era is working with Threepio and Lobot to utilize the ancient Trawak language, but it’s quickly killing Lobot and Lando is not happy. In Star Wars (2020) #11 it’s either keep the Talky working and run Lobot to death, or give up and lose the ability to contact Starlight Squadron. Lando understandably wants to keep his friend alive, but Kes Dameron has other plans: let Lobot die in order to get this language to save Starlight Squadron and his wife. Unfortunately for Lando and Lobot, Leia also agrees. On the other side of space we have Starlight Squadron ambushed and overrun by Commander Zahra’s Star Destroyer and her squadron of TIEs. Her plan is to capture the Rebels and get information from them, but shortly backfires, however, when Starlight Squadron decides to try a new, never tested tactic against a tractor beam: fly straight at the Destroyer and into the hangar to take out the tractor beam generators up close! Everything initially goes as planned until they get overrun by Imperial AT-ST walkers inside the hangar, making it difficult once again to escape alive!
Writer Charles Soule continues to put the friendship of Lando and Lobot as a centerpiece in Star Wars (2020) #11. It’s an intense and personal story to throw right in the middle of this sprawling space epic that helps remind everyone that the core of Star Wars is its humanity. He also does a wonderful job giving the case of how difficult it is for Leia to make the hard decisions when it comes to saving lives. This is a war after all and not every decision is going to make people happy. We also have some great art in the action pieces from artist Jan Bazaldua and colorist Rachelle Rosenberg who bring us eye popping explosions and laser blasts that fly right off the page. The way Bazaldua draws the different maneuvers of the X-wings and A-wings through these fights is incredible and really brings out the fun in each panel.
With Starlight Squadron stuck in the middle of an Imperial attack and trying to make it out alive, Lando struggles to convince the rest of the Rebels to keep his best friend alive while they try to acquire the ancient language of Trawak! Make sure to hop in the cockpit of your nearest X-wing and fly by your local comic shop to pick up this newest dramatic and action packed issue of Star Wars (2020)!
Lucas Wagner
Lucas Wagner is a massive film lover and life-long Star Wars fan. He mostly resides within The Clone Wars and The Old Republic eras and gets giddy at any mention of Asajj Ventress. All Star Wars is good Star Wars, but he finds himself particularly drawn to the Prequels.
