Star Wars: Rebels TPB - Comic Review

Hera, Kanan, Sabine, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper are back in Star Wars: Rebels TPB from Dark Horse comics.

Star Wars: Rebels fans rejoice! Comics featuring this cast of characters, which have only ever been published in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Rebels Animation magazines, are now collected in a gloriously ginormous trade paperback from Dark Horse comics. Featuring a staggering 41 stories and a page count just above 500, there is plenty to keep Rebels fans entertained from cover to cover.

Writers Martin Fisher, Jeremy Barlow, and Alec Worley do a great job of filling out the Star Wars: Rebels universe with a mixture of stories from Rebel and Imperial perspectives. Plus, this space allows smaller characters’ stories to be expanded upon, giving greater depth to what we know of them from the animated series. Similarly, artists Bob Molesworth, Ingo Römling, Eva Widermann, Ruaruí Coleman, Cosmo White, and Chris O’Halloran display their own diverse styles in a way that keeps each story fresh and exciting. Cover artist Olivier Vatine’s work basically requires this collection to be stored facing forward on your bookshelf, it’s that good.

The Star Wars: Rebels trade paperback is the perfect piece to add to Rebels and comic book fans’ collections. People who love the animated series will love to reconnect with their favorite characters in a different way, and comic book lovers will appreciate the range of stories and styles represented. While this collection is aimed more towards a younger audience (I can see my own 8-year-old reading this thing for hours), fans who grew up with Rebels and are now older will love it for its nostalgia and quality. This collection lives up to the standard of the animated series, and is the perfect companion piece. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be inspired to do a Rebels rewatch after reading this collection.

The Star Wars: Rebels TPB from Dark Horse comics is out everywhere now so carve out a section of your bookshelf and add it to your collection today!
